Earrings:

Choose short, wide and circular earring styles to give the illusion of a more rounded face shape. Studs and button earrings. Earrings in round, square or fan shapes will suit you. Teardrop shapes and small hoops are good. Make sure any drop earrings fall no further than the chin.

Careful: Large hoop earrings. Long and narrow earrings.

Necklaces:

Shorter necklace lengths. Chokers, collar necklaces, short chunky necklaces. If possible, wrap a longer necklace two or three times around your neck to make it shorter and to add depth.

Careful: Long necklaces, long pendant styles, long T styles.

Necklines:

Necklines that end close to the neck to widen your face — boat neck, scoop neck, Sabrina, turtleneck, mock neck, off the shoulder, one shoulder, and square neck.

Sunglasses:

Choose a pair of sunnies that has a large, rectangular and thick frame. A strong horizontal line will balance your face — like modern shield styles, the wayfarer, square, rectangular, or top-rimmed, oversized versions! Frames with decorative or contrasting temples, and frames with a low bridge to shorten a longer nose look great on you.

Careful: Small frames.

Hats:

Long brimmed hats will cover a portion of your forehead and make it look smaller. Choose wide brim hats with short crowns or curly/floppy brims. Medium sized floppy, wide brimmed fedoras, cloches, crusher hats, bucket hats, newsboys, derby hats, beanies, turban hats, sun hats, thick-knit hats, trapper hats with the earflaps tied on top, berets. Wear a beret low on the brow and tilted to one side. Try pulling the brim of your hat down to your eyebrows to shorten your face.

Careful: Narrow or flat brims, hats with high/deep crowns, hats of strict geometric shapes.

Eyebrows:

Bold brows in a horizontal shape work well, making the face appear shorter. They should be fairly straight with just a soft arch (think Joan Smalls or Cara Delevingne).

Hairstyles:

Long face shapes need texture and fringes to add width. Shorten the face with a curly bob or a mid-length or long style with layers at eye and cheekbone level to create texture. Side partings. Side-swept bangs are good, as well as other fringes. A headscarf or headband worn across the top of your forehead will shorten your face.

Careful: Long straight hairstyles pulled back off the forehead. One-length straight styles. Middle partings. Buns worn high on the head and teased volume on top because both add unwanted length to the face — chignons and braids are more wearable for you.

TIP: You can be a mixture of two face shapes! If this is the case, use suggestions from both types.
