It’s relatively easy to create this hairstyle, too! You can leave out your bangs to create a looser, messier finish, or do a tighter, sleeker version. Both ways are amazing! This is a great way to do your hair for casual and dressy outfits alike! Putting your hair in crown braids is perfect for days you want to air dry your hair and go heat-less! Milkmaid braids with bangs:

There’s something so beautiful and romantic about a loose milkmaid braid hairstyle. The structured crown that the braid creates contrasts the pieces left out! It’s a visually striking look that is sure to catch lots of attention.

Milkmaid braids:

A neater version of milkmaid braids is fantastic as well! We especially love this for the summer heat to get hair off the face and keep it at bay. You are sure to feel super chic in this hairstyle!

How to create milkmaid braids

  1. Start with day-old hair, or wash and dry your hair. Let it air dry if you like to give your hair a break from the heat!

  2. Decide where you want to part your hair — middle or side? Using your fingers section your hair into two sides of a roughly equal amount of hair.

  3. Clip one side up so it’s out of the way.

  4. On the other side, leave out bangs or a small piece from the front to help frame your face (if you like). Then, start braiding the bulk of hair on that side in a classic 3-strand braid, starting just above the ear. Braid it at an angle forward toward the front of you, instead of straight down.

  5. Secure the braided section 2 or 3 inches from the bottom of hair, with a small clear elastic.

  6. Repeat on the other side.

  7. Take both braids up over the head, meeting them together. Pin them in place with bobby pins every few inches along the braids. If your hair is long and the braids don’t finish in the middle of the head, bring them down behind your ears and pin.

  8. Finish off with a good amount of hairspray to keep the style in place!
