Festival
If you’re going to a music festival this year, you want your outfit to look on point! 🌞 From Coachella in California to Lollapolooza, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Hangout, Governor’s Ball, Outside Islands, and the Electric Daisy Festival, the choice of festivals is plentiful. Festivals are all about freedom and fun so translate that energy into your clothes, hair and makeup as well! Wear stuff you wouldn’t normally get to wear — it’s a bit like playing dress up, have fun with it. And do remember the practical side of your outfit — you need shoes that won’t give you blisters, light clothing so you don’t get too hot jumping around to your favorite songs, a crossbody or fannypack bag that’ll keep you hands-free, a hat and sunglasses to protect you from the sun, and sunscreen (a must)!
Dresses & rompers:
Try styling a unique, super-fun dress for a festival. After all, festivals are the time to wear the too-sexy dresses you couldn’t get away with wearing in normal life. Whichever dress or romper you choose, keep in mind going to the bathroom during the day likely means outdoor Port-A-Pottys! So access the practically of this when choosing your dress style. Also consider wearing some kind of biker short under your dress (even if your dress is not see-through) — it is a good idea since you don’t want to inadvertently give the party-goers a show of your own.
Skirts:
Skirts are a perfect choice for a summer festival — partly because they allow for another quintessential festival clothing item — a crop top! That means wearing a cute skirt with the tiniest top you can find, which helps to keep you cool in the summer heat. You can stick with classic whites or blacks, or why not a skirt/top combo made of something like bright gold discs?! There really aren’t limits here. Style your skirt/top with booties, sandals, or sneakers, and add a belt, necklaces, bracelets, sunglasses, and a hat.
Shorts:
Tiny shorts are a go-to choice for a festival outfit because they look cool, cute and sexy. They’re practical too — they keep you from getting overheated, they keep your booty covered no matter what activity you’re taking part in, and they make it easy to use the outdoor bathrooms. Pair your little shorts with a little top, and add a lightweight kimono if you like. It’s an adorable combo! We love the kimono-shorts outfit because it gives you a little coverage from the sun but yet is still tremendously sexy.
Pants:
Pants might be a less-common choice for a festival outfit but we love the possibilities here! Pants help you stand out from the crowd — especially if you choose a really unique pair made of mesh netting or metallic fabric! Style your festival pants with a super cute top — how about a tiny bralette, a crop halter, or a lace bustier? Our favorite part of the pants look is how well pants lend themselves to sneakers or flat booties, making feet feel so comfy all day!
Hair:
Don’t just style your hair the same-old way you do everyday! Experiment with funky or ornate hairstyles for a music festival! These hairstyles are not only amazingly gorgeous, they also have a practical side — they get your hair off you face and/or neck to minimize the sweatiness you for sure will be experiencing. There are lots of options with braids — try a messy crown braid, multiple braids in a half-up style (a la Game of Thrones), cornrows, or inside-out French braid pigtails. Or go with bubble ponytails — there’s different versions ranging from elegant to super-funky and twisted. Another cute hairstyle for festivals is any version of space buns or mini buns — they have an almost alien vibe! And don’t forget festivals mean you can go all-out and adorn your hair with ornamental jewelry, weave in colored pieces, paint on glitter, or even add flowers or seashells!
Makeup:
Carry the fun, over-the-top, festival vibe into your makeup as well! How about designing dots, stars, or face gems around your eyes, or adding glitter freckles?! There’s almost no other occasion you could get away with all that! If you’d like something fun but more subtle, how about a sweep of colored eyeliner or eye shadow? Eyeliner in bright cobalt blue or lime green certainly adds some flare to your makeup. Or try a light or heavy application of eye shadow in pink, neon orange-red, turquoise, or pink-purple metallics.
