Most of your clothing for gardening should consist of stain-resistant colors and breathable, strong fabrics that allow you to bend, squat and move. There are some companies that make gardening-specific clothing lines that are exactly this type of attire — brands like the Duluth Trading Company. These brands make perfect options for overalls, pants, tees and shirts for toiling in the yard. Overalls are a classic choice for gardening because they stay up and keep you covered with all that bending over you’ll be doing! Overalls also usually have abundant pockets for supplies and your cell phone while you work. Or try pants paired with a tank, tee or button-up shirt. For intensive gardening sessions go for pants and long-sleeves to protect your legs and arms from scratches. For lighter gardening you’ll be fine with shorts, skirts, short-sleeved tops and tanks.

Accessories:

Whenever spending time in your garden plot is going to be more than a few minutes, wear a hat to protect your face and head from the sun! There are beautiful sun hats on the market that are lovely for this task. Using a hat or headband will help get your hair off your neck and keep you cool. As for shoes, boots are the best choice for working in the yard — waterproof wellies are ideal because you can get dirty with all the soil, mud, and water you want and it will just clean off quickly after you’re done!
