Gray/silver hair

Gray/silver hair is gray or white toned. The color gray is a non-color neutral, although the undertones of gray hair differ from person to person — it can have warmer or cooler undertones. You may have gray hair naturally, or maybe you chose to dye it gray/silver! Coloring hair gray has been a trend in recent years, it is a unique look. Have fun with styling your outfits to go with and enhance your gray hair. Gray hair often creates a very soft, low-contrast personal coloring, so learn how to dress for this. Celebrities:

Cindy Joseph, Diane Keaton, Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kathleen Sebelius, Meryl Streep, Sarah Harris, Jane Fonda, Victoria Magrath, Blythe Danner, Iris Apfel

Black & white:

Black and white clothing sharpens gray hair! It’s a high-contrast look that is stunning. Wearing black and white seems to lessen the gray appearance of the hair, making it look a little more blonde than gray. This color combo can be used to create a dramatic appearance that says you mean business (à la Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada)!

All black:

Wearing all black is an excellent choice if you have gray hair! Black looks striking and chic on you. The perfect backdrop to showcase gray hair is crisp black. Black works well for any dinner or evening event!

All white:

Try wearing all white with gray hair! White mimics the whiteness of your gorgeous gray ‘do. An all-white ensemble gives you a very light, almost angelic feeling because from head-to-toe you are light-toned.

Red:

Red is absolutely amazing with gray hair! This is because the colors gray and red look so good together. Red clothing give you a luxurious, rich feeling. Don red from head-to-toe or go with a strong pop of the gorgeous shade with a red scarf or red pants paired with neutral pieces.

Grays:

Match your gray with more gray! Gray or silver clothing looks perfect with your gray locks. It gives a very cohesive, highly stylish look. Gray can be one of your best neutrals.

Blue:

Blue is a classic combination to wear with gray hair. Almost all shades of blue are perfect for you! Blue really enhances the coolness of gray hair because blue has cool undertones too. Gray hair looks really pretty against blue! Denim and navy blue will do very well in your closet — pair these shades with many other colors.

Browns:

Tones of tan, camel and brown are a good choice for neutrals, too! Experiment with these colors. Richer, darker shades of brown, in particular, look good near your face, whereas lighter shades of tan can be less flattering above the waist. Opulent shades of brown and bronze look very strong and chic on you (see those below that Meryl Streep wears in The Devil Wears Prada)!

Green:

Pastel and rich, strong shades of green look great on you! Be careful with muted olive green because it can wash you out with its muddiness, but other shades of green are generally all going to look amazing.

Other jewel tones:

Jewel tones in general are perfect for you. Jewel tones will add clear vibrancy and prevent you from looking washed out — think magenta pinks, reds, burgundys, bold golds, teal, rich greens, vibrant purples! Try jewel colors that match your eye color: sapphire blue for blue eyes, emerald green for green eyes, brown for brown eyes.

Pastels:

Pastels in general can be a good choice for gray hair because they mimic the softness and lightness of the gray. Light, pastel pinks, peaches and blues look pretty!
