Princess waves
A fantastic way to style hair heat-free is braiding it for princess waves! Reducing heat styling is for sure a goal and setting hair in braids is one of the best solutions for this. Any of the braided styles below can be done after showering at night, then TA-DA perfect waves in the morning! Depending on what type of braids you make, how many and how you place them, the resulting princess waves will vary. Experiment with braiding in different ways and with some different hair products to see what result you like best for you!
Braided pigtails:
One way to get gorgeous waves is by braiding damp hair in pigtails! Washing you hair at night then sleeping with pigtails not only gives you great wavy hair in the morning, but it also looks cute while you sleep! You can also do two inside-out boxer braids on damp hair in the morning, wear the style all day, sleep in them that night, then unravel the next morning. 🙌
Braided buns:
For waves on just the lower portion of your hair, try braided buns! Brush volumizing mousse through damp hair and braid hair into two loose braids. Then, clip them up into twists and let dry completely. You’ll get loose, undone waves, even if your hair is quite straight naturally! This is a cute style to wear during the day.
Make one big braid:
Braid damp hair in one French braid or inside-out braid for great waves! Wear your hair in your braid while you sleep or during the day then release your hair for the evening.
Braid around the head:
Try setting the hair in several simple braids around the head, starting each braid at least a couple inches down from the top of your head. Leave a couple inches out at the bottom as well, since the bottom is thinner if you were to braid it it would end up overly wavy in that area.
Several French braids:
To get a highly wavy look, try braiding several French braids around the head!
Tons of little braids:
For a super crimped hair result, braid your hair in many little braids around the head. When you unravel the braids in the morning you will have small-sized crimps throughout, with tons of volume! Take one- or two-inch sections (depending on the thickness of your hair) of damp hair and braid evenly. In the morning, put a nickel-sized amount of a silicone-based hair serum on your fingers and rake them through hair, distributing the product is evenly throughout.

how to create princess waves
Start with freshly washed hair that has been combed through to detangle and is still damp.
Apply a hair product of your choice — mousse, gel, leave-in conditioner, treatment oil, etc. — and comb through.
If your hair is fine, you may want to rough dry the roots a bit with a blow dryer, with your head upside down. It adds much needed lift!
When you hair is still a little damp, braid it in the braiding style of your choice.
Secure braids with little elastics or fabric hair ties (fabric hair ties are good at reducing any ridges from your hair ties).
Sleep on the braids or wear them through the day.
When hair is dry, unravel braids and gently use a wide-tooth comb to loosen up the waves.
Apply a tiny bit of hair treatment oil by putting it on hands and smoothing hands gently over hair from midshaft to ends. Or, just use a generous veil of hairspray.
